The Federation of Entertainment Unions (the NUJ, Writers’ Guild, Equity and the Musicians’ Union) has developed a range of training courses and online-training options for members. Predominantly aimed at skills building for freelance members, the modules range from how to do business effectively to improving your social-media presence.
The “FEU Training project” is funded by unionlearn, the skills development branch of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), and offers programmes from subsidised one-day training courses to e-learning opportunities, in effect short, bite-sized pieces that you can take in during a spare quarter-hour.
The “Getting Down to Business” skills improvement programme for example helps freelances brush up on the key business skills necessary to support career development. While online courses range from how to build a WordPress website to getting the best from RSS.
You’ll need to register on the FEU Training website with your union membership number in order to take advantage.
More information at http://www.feutraining.org/ or via the NUJ’s Education & Training Officer Linda King (lindak(at)nuj.org.uk).
Highly recommended.
