“Journalists face an increasing challenge to secure their communications in a digital world,” the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) warns. “The protection of confidential sources can be easily compromised in a world where surveillance is becoming ubiquitous.”
To tackle the issue, the EFJ and the European Trade Union Institute ran a four-day workshop on cyber security for journalists in January 2015. The “tips and tricks” that emerged from the workshop are now available online. Many of the steps are simple to carry out, and executing them is highly recommended.
