Update 17/01/2018. At yesterday’s meeting of NUJ Brussels branch, members approved the move (long expected) to paying membership subscriptions direct to NUJ HQ only.
This removes much work from the branch Treasurer, and enables staff at Head Office to keep better tabs on current membership status.
Accordingly, members in Belgium will no longer pay into a local (Belgian) bank account, but must contact NUJ Head Office direct to pay their membership subscription. Any debit or credit card may be used to make payment by telephone – however the preference is always to set up a direct debit.
As an NUJ member you are part of a community of around 35,000 people with your interests at heart. The NUJ as a whole provides solidarity, support and professional information as part of the annual subscription fee. It also depends on your active participation to ensure that you have the services you need. Only if you are up to date with your subscriptions are you entitled to NUJ benefits and services (including Grapevine), and to vote in NUJ elections.
Methods of payment: There are several methods of payment, as follows:
- Direct debit – you can pay by direct debit from a UK bank account to the NUJ bank account in the UK (this is the preferred option).
- Debit/credit card – you can make payments of 3 months subscriptions or more over the phone with a VISA debit or credit card.
If paying by direct debit, you can get the relevant forms by logging on to the main NUJ site www.nuj.org.uk and going to the ‘Join the NUJ’ section. Print the form, fill it in and post or fax to the Membership department at the NUJ headquarters Headland House.
Payments of 3 months / 6 months / 12 months subscriptions can be made over the phone with a VISA debit or credit card. If it is a euro-currency card however, you may be charged by the card issuer for exchange rate costs.
