10/03/2010. The EU’s anti-fraud office (OLAF) has launched an anonymous online fraud tip-off system for citizens who wish to report evidence of official corruption. The system is an addition to the existing email, telephone and postal reporting facilities, with the advantage that citizens can enter details anonymously via online forms.
The system creates a file that can be accessed subsequently by both complainant and EU official fraud investigators, allowing answers to be obtained to questions about the alleged fraud. The online form has to be filled in within 20 minutes, or it suggests that you attach larger files.
The site offers a secure mailbox facility to preserve confidentiality, however users wishing to be sure of keeping their anonymity will most likely access the system using the facilities of a cybercafe.
The site can be accessed at https://fns.olaf.europa.eu/ (see “Questionnaire”). Languages are Dutch, English, French and German.
