NUJ CEC freelance directory: terms and conditions
When a journalist becomes a member of the NUJ, they commit themselves to working in accordance with the standards set in the NUJ Code of Conduct and Working Practices.

Anyone commissioning work from someone they have found in this Directory is expected to negotiate the rates and conditions fairly and openly with the freelance journalist concerned. In particular the NUJ expects that the default licence granted by the freelance journalist for their work will be First Serial Rights for the territory in which it is published. If the commissioning party requires a licence for any additional rights these should be specified in advance together with the payment that will be made for each.

The information in this Directory is given in good faith and for general information purposes only. It is subject to change without notice. The NUJ and NUJ CEC are not responsible for any inaccuracies and give no warranty as to its accuracy. Responsibility for the content of any entry in this Directory rests entirely with the individual member who supplied it including any updates when circumstances change.

Any arrangements made between you and any third party named or referred to in the Directory are entirely at your sole risk and responsibility. Any contract agreed between a commissioning editor and a freelance journalist is a matter entirely for those persons. The NUJ and NUJ CEC cannot and shall not be held responsible for any failure by either party to comply with such a contract. Nothing in this Directory is intended to be or should be construed as an offer to enter into a contractual relationship.
