Am I liable for French tax?

Thursday 11 October 2007

If you are, it’s sure to be complicated. Fortunately, the branch produces an annual tax guide for members Tax For Hax outlining the law as it affects journalists. Its available now through the Members Only section of the site.

  • If you spend less than 183 days a year in Fance you can claim tax domicile in another country, UK or Ireland for example, and pay your tax there.
Because I am travelling a good deal I am in this situation. I have found the French tax authorities readily accept my statement that I am paying tax to the UK’s HMRC.
I still have to pay French SECU though...
