Following Susan Luraschi’s recommendation in The Grapevine, I went to see the one-man play about Oscar Wilde, More Lives Than One, at the Sudden Theatre, 14 bis rue Ste Isaure in the 18th. I thought it was excellent and when I bumped into the author and actor, Les Clack, founder of the company Dear Conjunction, outside the theatre afterwards, I said so. He asked me to write a blurb that he could use to help publicise the production, which ends on 9 January but will be revived later this year. I warmly recommend it. Here’s the blurb:
A dramatic, funny and moving production, based on the letters, plays and trials of Oscar Wilde. Les Clack’s one-man performance (minimal props, consummate acting) had the audience spellbound. A tour de force which will appeal to those who know their Wilde inside out - and to those who have never read a line.
