Former Mirror editor and current Guardian columnist Roy Greenslade today weighed in to the ’frank exchange of views’ over our election for the editor of The Journalist.

You can link to his blog article Sham investigation undermines election of NUJ’s magazine editor here. It’s also worth following the links from this article if you’re interested.

Hopefully there’ll be more on last week’s branch meeting when I get time, deadlines permitting.

  • I am grateful to Mark Watts for his e-mail. I was undecided before reading it, but he convinced of on thing at least: not to vote for him!

  • I see Greenslade opened his piece by saying that as he was not in the NUJ (now), he had decided to stay out of the ’election’ discussion but he could not stop himself due to the ’Far Left’ debate - so he was going to say something. Then it appears (in the comments) that he had already joined a Facebook Group called ’Rich Simcock for Editor’. Then Greenslade comments on his own article, saying - well I don’t know how that happened - or words to that effect. Fascinating stuff but a long way from the problems faced by journalists today.
